Seed Variety

Armeria Ballerina

Download Plant Culture

Data is gathered from our Elburn, Ill., trials (Zone 5a) for a North American audience. Warm-climate growers: expect 1-2 weeks earlier finishing. Cool-climate growers: expect 1 week slower. Dates based on standard 288 plug size.

Notes/Pitfall Management
Ballerina does not require overwintering for flowering but plants will have better bulk if fall planted. The use of Configure in fall planting can increase spring flower count.

Growing on to Finish
Growing on Temperature: (day) 60-65°F (16-18°C)
(night) 50-58°F (10-14°C)
Target Media pH/EC (1:2): 5.6-6.2 pH
1.2-1.4 mmhos/cm
Fertilizer: 175 to 225 ppm N
(1.2 to 1.5 EC)
Daylength: Day Neutral
Fertilizer Notation: Ballerina generally needs low to medium fertilization. Apply fertilizer at rate 1 to 2 (70 to 175 ppm N; 0.5 to 1.2 mmhos/cm). After overwintering, apply an extra fertilizer application (150 to 175 ppm N), when plants start to grow in early Spring.
Finishing Key Tips: Prevent Mg and Fe deficiency. Avoid planting plugs too deep (crown below soil surface) and growing wet in plug and finished stages.
